Jackie Weiss – Racing

{Juni 19, 2006}   Jackie Weiss goes Skip Barber

Jackie Weiss, 15 year young female Rotax Junior Driver, is celebrating a successful 2006 race season participating in the Champ Car Rotax Kart Challenge, Gatorz Cup and XPLEX Championship Series as well as in Club Races at the Los Angeles Kart Club and Willow Springs Kart Club. Jackie currently leads the points chase in the XPLEX Championship.

With seven podium finishes out of 15 starts in this season, Jackie showed a lot of improvement since she has teamed with Travis Irving as a coach.

Focusing on her future racing career, Weiss did the Skip Barber 3-day Racing School at the Las Vegas Speedway on the weekend of June 2-4. “Incredible,” she stated about the experience. “What I learned during these short and very hot three days was very helpful. Driving a Formula Dodge was harder than I thought.”

The instructions included drafting, passing and racing in the rain, while the majority of teaching was spent for lapping at speed. Without having a driver’s license so far, she managed the Formula Dodge nearly to Top Speed of 130mph (coming from 0 to 60mph in 4.5 seconds!). Now, as Jackie sniffed into the “big cars” she definitely will be looking to join the Skip Barber National Championship in 2007 but will still continue to compete in the Champ Car Rotax Kart Challenge and the Gatorz Cup.

Being in her second race season this year, Weiss is aware that all this happened because of the support of her family and friends. She would like to thank all by giving her best in all of her competition racing and improving quick and continuously. Jackie gives a lot of credit to her younger sister Daisy, who is her karting mechanic and her dad, Dieter, who is the center bone of her racing career.
